Sun’s OpenOffice was originally a set of commercial-grade Office software-StarOffice, through Sun’s open procedures code, a formal development plan called OpenOffice, free software by many enthusiastic people together to maintain. So that we can be outside of MS OFFICE, but also a free Office can be used. OpenOffice is an integrated software, which contains a plethora of tools, its function is absolutely better than Microsoft’s MS Office is even worse, not only can have the same Word word-processing, producing simple graphics, more powerful graphics capabilities, but also be able to write web pages, you can also make difficult to deal with MS Office in mathematical symbols, etc., supporting XML, Microsoft’s doc, Excel, ppt files and other formats.
